Overview

Between the Birches: Awakening is the first in a new adult, dark urban fantasy series where magic is real, monsters exist, and nightmares come true. Beneath the hills of Western North Carolina lies an ancient evil, trapped for a millennia. There are many who seek to release it, and only two who can stop them... Newlyweds Beth and Tom Newman are headed to the Appalachian Mountains for a relaxing weekend with their best friend, Grady Cooper. When the trio arrives, they are unexpectedly met with some old friends. Beth's excitement soon turns to dread when they end up running for their lives. Her twenty-fifth birthday turned out to be more memorable than she had hoped... in the worst of ways. Goodreads Reviews: What a great book! I was hooked and stayed up way too late reading it as I just had to know what was going to happen. It starts out with a husband and wife who are taking a hiking trip with a guy friend of theirs for her birthday. Once they arrive there are 2 more old guy friends waiting to seemingly join the group for the hike. Things quickly take a sinister turn that is born of evil forces, and magical influence. You don't know who is good, who is bad, who you can trust and who will die! I was holding my breathe for half the book, it was gripping and thrilling from beginning to end. It held so many different aspects thus making me enjoy it that much more. I laughed, I cried, I hid under my blanket and loved every second of it. I am so excited to see what book 2 has in store for us. If you love mysteries, thrillers, paranormal, adventure and excitement then this book is for you! - Kimberly Morehouse, ARC Reader I was lucky enough to be a beta reader for this book, and I loved it! I can't wait to buy and reread it again when it's published. I was invested in the characters and the story from the very beginning. Beth, Tom and Grady face many obstacles as they take this journey and end up fighting for their lives... at times working together and other times falling apart. There is an excellent blend of magic, reality and people coming together to face their destinies, which is never an easy task. I couldn't predict what would happen next as twists and turns continued to develop throughout the story, which made the book very hard to put down! I can't wait to read book #2 in the series! 5 stars!! - Caroline Fleur, Author of 'Destiny and Other Dilemmas' Between the Birches is not my typical genre. But I freaking loved it. I was Team Grady for most of the book. Beth is strong and sarcastic and stubborn to a fault. Grady is dark, broody and smexy. Tom is that man you'd bring home to momma. There are plenty of twists in store for you as you travel into the mountains and learn magic is real. Oh, and there may or may not be an evil god lurking beneath those picturesque views. Just saying. (Also I love Jeff. For reasons) - L. Krauch, Author 'The 13th Zodiac' Epic Fantasy Series Told from multiple points of view, Between the Birches is an imaginative, unpredictable, genre-bending story. From cults to forest beasts to magic, this book weaves in a little bit of everything – and it works. Throughout the book, I honestly had no idea who or what was lurking on the next page. Like all good horror stories, there were several moments, especially early in the story, when I wanted to grab the characters and scream, "Turn around" or "No. Don't go there!" There is also an unusual love triangle that is responsible for a lot of tense and tender moments. All three of the main characters are relatable in their own way, though Tom was my favorite. - Kristi M., ARC Reader from www.bookpicksandpics.com See more reviews at: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/60147983-between-the-birches
